French Immersion Shouldn't Feel This Hard.

Help your child read French accurately, understand what they read, and become more confident in French in 10 weeks.

French Prodigy is a structured online French literacy program for Grades 1–10 students in French Immersion and Francophone programs who need stronger foundations in reading, comprehension, vocabulary and French language skills.

You may have found us because your child...

  • Reads French slowly or sounds out the same words repeatedly

  • Guesses unfamiliar French words instead of decoding them

  • Is doing "okay" in French at school, but you can see there are gaps that aren't being addressed

  • Can read a passage but struggles to explain what it means:

  • Understands French better than they can express themselves

  • Has limited vocabulary that affects comprehension and writing

If you're seeing some of these signs, more practice alone may not be the answer. Your child may need stronger French literacy foundations.

Elise Beckles-BA Hons. (French Studies), MSc

Founder of The French Tutor Inc. & Creator of The French Prodigy Program

Elise Beckles knows French Immersion from both sides of the classroom.

A former French Immersion student herself, Elise has spent more than 15 years helping children strengthen their French skills and become more confident learners. Her work with students and families led her to recognize a common problem: many bright, capable children were progressing through French Immersion without fully developing the reading and language foundations they needed.

They could often read the words on the page, but struggled to understand what they had read. Others guessed unfamiliar words, lacked the vocabulary to express their ideas, or slowly began losing confidence in French.

Elise created The French Prodigy Program to address those gaps.

Through structured, small-group instruction, students develop the skills behind strong French literacy, including decoding, reading fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, grammar and communication.

Elise has supported hundreds students and families and brings together her background in French education, communications and teaching to create an approach that is structured, engaging and focused on meaningful progress.

Her goal isn't simply to help children get through their next French assignment. It's to help them build the foundations they need to read, understand and communicate in French with greater independence and confidence.

Real Progress. Real Students. Real Families

The Skills Behind Strong French Readers

  • Foundation
French sound patterns, decoding, pronunciation and reading accuracy.

  • Fluency
Reading smoothly, confidently and with appropriate expression.

  • Comprehension

  • Language
Grammar, sentence construction, writing, listening and oral communication.

  • Confidence
Participating, taking risks in French and becoming a more independent learner.

We don't guess at progress. We measure it.

1. Understand the Starting Point

Before instruction begins, we assess key French literacy skills to better understand your child's strengths and areas for development.

2. Teach the Skills They Need

Students are grouped appropriately and receive structured instruction targeting decoding, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension and language development.

3. Monitor Their Growth

Throughout the program, our teachers monitor performance, participation and developing skills so instruction can respond to what we're seeing.

4. Show You What's Changed

At the end of the program, we review your child's progress and provide recommendations for what they should work on next.

But My Child Reads Well in English. Why Are They Struggling in French?

A child can be a strong English reader and still experience difficulty reading in French.

French has different sound-spelling relationships, vocabulary, pronunciation patterns and grammatical structures. Some children need explicit instruction to learn how those patterns work rather than relying on the reading strategies they've developed in English.

That's why French Prodigy specifically develops the foundations children need to read accurately, understand what they're reading and communicate more confidently in French.

Small Groups. Limited Enrolment.

Our Commitment to Your Child's Progress

Our Commitment to Your Child's Progress

We're invested in your child's progress, not just their enrollment.

Every child enters French Prodigy with different strengths, gaps and learning needs.

That's why we begin by understanding where your child is starting and monitor their development throughout the program.

When your child attends consistently, participates in class and completes the recommended practice, you should be able to see meaningful growth in the French literacy and language skills we're targeting.

And if your child needs more time? We'll keep supporting them.

If, after completing the full 10-week French Prodigy Program, your child has not demonstrated progress in the skills identified at the beginning of the program, we'll provide one additional month of small-group French Prodigy instruction at no additional cost.

No extra program fee. No starting over.

We want your child to leave French Prodigy with stronger foundations and a clearer path forward.

What we ask from you

To qualify for our Progress Commitment, students must:

Attend at least 80% of their scheduled core classes

Participate consistently during lessons

Complete assigned reading and practice activities

Complete both the beginning and end-of-program assessments

Because every child learns differently, we cannot guarantee a specific grade, reading level or school outcome.

What we can commit to is structured instruction, ongoing monitoring, clear feedback and additional support when a student has fully participated but needs more time to demonstrate progress.
